Removes all the tracker junk from a URL.
If you select Clean (or Paste and Clean) that's all, unless you check Archive
If you select Xcancel (or Paste and Xcancel) it cleans and converts a X/twitter or twitter bypass URL to an Xcancel one.
This tool is here because I'm sick of websites and social media adding trackers to the URL (those fbclid=yadayada sections of a URL) and people on social media posting these links with all the tracker crap. I also, for reasons of X banning me and not communicating when I objected, don't use X. XCancel seems to do the best job of all the various X/twitter replacements of maintaining videos and threads of messages so I also wanted to convert all the X/twitter and other workaround links to XCancel ones.
These tools are not perfect and lack almost all error checking. Sometimes that means odd things will happen, such as when you try XCancelling a link that you meant to clean up or archive a link you wanted to XCancel.
The Clean button takes the URL in the text field and removes the junk and puts the result at the bottom of the page as a link to click on, and, depending on the options, selected may do other things too. The XCancel button, in addition to cleaning the link, replaces the domain part of the link with xcancel.com.
The "Paste and X" buttons do the same things with the contents of the clipboard, which they put into the URL text field. As the page notes, the paste buttons will need you to grant permissions before they work. The various options modify the behavior as follows
By default none of the options are set and the URL field is blank. If you wany you can check some of the options
and set the url in the search string with the following syntax
flags=[A][C][G][N][R] - set the options A=archive, C=copy, G=autogo, N=new tab, R = reverse (xcancel=>x)
=...[X|Y] - Final flag X or Y then do Xcancel(X)/Clean(Y). Best Combined with url and G flag
url=url to clean/xcancel
e.g.
You can skip flags= and url= if you want. Whether you skip them or not the flags must come before url because otherwise they get cleaned
This page is hosted by Cloudflare using their pages capability. Unfortunately as a result Cloudflare sticks one tracking script on the page. It seems to be a) pretty harmless and b) blocked by "stop tracking script" options/extensions in browsers but if this concerns you can download the raw file or fork the project at gitlab.
